  1. A slight correction: Ragnar Andreas Audunson is Chair of Library Theory & Research section, not Research and Education section. (I’m the secretary/treasurer of LTR.)

  10. Hei igjen

Trine og jeg er ikke ex officio members i Governing Board. Selv om vi er valgt inn fra Divisjonene så er vi fullverdige medlemmer på linje med de som er personlig valgt

  11. Hi Torny:

As a sociologist, I am always curious abouth the mechanics of decision-making. The statutes say:

18.2 The Governing Board shall consist of:

    1. the President,
    2. the President-elect elected under the provisions of article 19,
    3. 10 members elected by Members by postal and/or electronic ballot,
    4. the members of the Professional Committee elected under the provisions of Article 22 of these Statutes.
    5. Up to three further Board members may be co-opted [See definition at the end of the text] by the Governing Board to represent interests determined by the Board.

If we go to Article 22, we find that:

22.2 The Professional Committee shall consist of the chair, elected in accordance with Article 22.3 and an officer of each Division of the Federation, preferably the chair of the Division, the President-elect and two members of the Governing Board, elected by that Board from among its members.

This seems to imply that the members of the Professional Committee – by that very fact – serve as members of the GB. If that interpretation is correct, they are members ex officio. But please correct me, if I have misunderstood.

Let me also add: I consider members ex officio as fully equivalent to directly elected members.

    ***

I have also added Niels Damgaard and Randi Lundvall under the School Libraries and Resource Centers Section.
